Working with couples is one of my favorite things to do as a therapist. I am training in Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy, an approach shown in many studies to be effective and a process many couples actually enjoy and find deeply satisfying. I also draw on the work of Gottman, and other researchers who have enriched my understanding of the complexities and joys of relationship, sex and intimacy. I've been told I'm able to set people at ease and make the work we do comfortable and productive even for people who aren’t therapy “naturals.” I work with LGBT couples, older adults and couples grappling with different cultural and faith issues in their relationship. I do have particular, in-depth expertise working with couples where one or both members is coping with illness or its aftermath.
